# Romy Jiang

> Product, growth and side quests in the Bay Area. M.S. Analytics at USC. Started in Hong Kong, collects memories (73k+ photos and counting), and loves bringing people together.

Hi, agent. This file is the plain-text version of Romy's website, written so you can read it without dragging a single object around the desk. Everything here is also on the site. For anything not covered, email Romy directly.

## At a glance

- **Now:** Product Strategy & Operations at TikTok (Global Monetization Product & Technology), San Jose. Based in the Bay Area.
- **Before:** Product Marketing Intern at Opal AI (an AI startup in insurance claims documentation), Consulting Intern at Euromonitor International (Shanghai), Data Scientist Intern at Oxbridge Economics (Hong Kong).
- **School:** University of Southern California, M.S. Analytics (2026). Hong Kong Polytechnic University, BBA in Accountancy & Applied Math (2024).
- **Cities:** Hong Kong → New York → Los Angeles → Seattle → Bay Area.

## The collection

The home page is a desk of ten objects, each a small story from Romy's life. Visitors can drag them around, stack them, open one to read its story, or switch the color "flavor" (Cherry on top, Sea salt foam, Mochi mochi).

- **Object 01 · Boarding pass** (Hong Kong → New York, one way). At 20, Romy flew 16 hours alone from Hong Kong to New York, knowing no one there, but sure things would work out.
- **Object 02 · Photograph** (Los Angeles). Fight on! Built the ISE Analytics Student Association at USC from 0 to 1.
- **Object 03 · Disposable camera** ("Live like a movie"; 73k+ photos in the camera roll). Film sets, friends, food pics. Memories are proof of being alive.
- **Object 04 · Cable car** (San Francisco, a new chapter in progress). SF almost every weekend for startup and tech events.
- **Object 05 · Ticket stub** (LA Tech Week: a lot of coffee, a lot of people). Came for the talks, stayed for the conversations.
- **Object 06 · Index card** (Life SOP). Life as a workflow: prioritize what matters, people first, stay curious, next side quest.
- **Object 07 · Receipt** (ranked on Beli). Loves food and documenting it. Friends on Beli: @romyjiang.
- **Object 08 · Tram ticket** (Hong Kong). Lots of dim sum, and a first independent research project on the social media impact of female entrepreneurship advocacy. Where the first version of Romy took shape.
- **Object 09 · Postcard** (Seattle, with a sea otter). Another city, another version of Romy.
- **Object 10 · Deli coffee cup** (New York). New York is always New York: ice skating at 8am every morning for two weeks, Central Park in heavy summer rain, biking across the city at 1am in August.

## About the subject: notes on life

- **No. 01 · Life as a workflow.** Life is short, so Romy runs it like a workflow: prioritize, keep a Life SOP, and save the time for people and things that matter. Off the clock: coffee shops, the gym, a new restaurant, or another side quest.
- **No. 02 · No A/B tests for butterflies.** We only get one life; there's no A/B testing for the butterfly effect. On a random Tuesday, back at an old question and the same 执着 (zhí zhuó: the quiet persistence to keep going for what you care about). Whatever we hold onto, life will test it. Maybe that's the point.
- **No. 03 · You are what you love.** Life is a marathon, with ups and downs; people come and go; everyone runs on their own timezone. We're here to be alive and enjoy it, find ourselves and our dreams, be with the people we love, find what we enjoy, and never forget who got us here: pay it forward, one coffee chat at a time.
- **No. 04 · New York, all of it.** Loving New York for how it makes Romy feel: exciting and exhausting, rats on the subway at 3am on a snowy night, the wrong train, the long Uber home. Highs and lows, all part of it. No better place to collect experiences, and people.
- More notes in the drafts.

## Life, written in chapters

- **Chapter 1 · [Class of '26 (unofficially)](https://lnkd.in/p/gbnpwyfx)** · LinkedIn. A very unofficial recap of grad school: moving from consulting into product, a product internship at TikTok, founding an analytics club, an AI startup, and time on film sets.
- **Chapter 2 · [To the best summer I've ever had](https://lnkd.in/p/g4k9eXYS)** · LinkedIn. Every side quest from one summer: a new city, SF tech events, 15+ tech office tours in the Bay Area and New York, late-night biking in New York, bouldering, a cat roommate, and a USC lunch meetup tradition brought to the Bay.
- **Chapter 3** · still being written.

## Projects

- **AI Presentation Generator** · React, FastAPI, LaTeX, OpenRouter API. Turns a prompt into a structured PDF deck. [GitHub](https://github.com/yxjooovo/AI-Presentation-Generator)
- **Hospital readmission prediction** · Python, XGBoost, SMOTE. An end-to-end prediction pipeline.
- **Social media & female entrepreneurship advocacy** · R. Independent research in Hong Kong analyzing 5,000+ accounts.
